Very early morning

When do you feel most productive?

I like to wake up very early, I tend to sleep early before 10 pm , I wake up around 4:00 am fajr prayer take a walk for at least 30 minutes when I get back home a shower and make myself breakfast usually some variation of eggs “boiled most of the time” and a cup of coffee, and I’m ready to work, I would start working on my novel a bit, and get ready to stream some game maybe my own writing if I’m feeling it, do drop by on Twitch and say hi, or just lurk.

The Flight Attendant’s Guide to Packing Like a Pro

I’m Majid, retired from being a Lead flight attendant worked for a private local Airline in Saudi Arabia, and I also worked for Lufthansa German Airlines in Sales in my city Khobar, called Dhahran station. My family’s mother’s side owns one of the first Travel agencies in the region. So aviation has always been part of my life few members of the family are pilots some ex-military pilots I have been traveling since I was a kid.

I will emphasize in this post the importance of efficient packing for making travel smoother and more enjoyable for many reasons, some for security and, a few for convenience

Understanding Airline Baggage Policies

Based on your airline of choice or cheapest you find the importance of knowing and adhering to airline baggage policies to avoid fees and delays. Most airlines have the information on the airlines’ website, also you can always ask your travel agent to provide you with information always ask for it in writing non casually by asking them to email it, verbal communication won’t help you if an issue arises

To maximize carry-on luggage and personal items most airlines allow one carry-on that is not more than 7kg, some airlines are okay with having a laptop bag separate, and some do not, so get the information beforehand

The Essentials: What to Pack

Here is a list of must-haves in your carry items you never travel without. This could include

  • A travel-sized hygiene kit is kind of hard since liquids are not allowed on planes, “I tend to get those when I arrive, get me a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap”  since they won’t cost much.
  • Medications you need also to make sure that some medications are considered controlled substances in other countries, so that is another thing you will need to check.
  • A change of clothes, “god forbid your check-in luggage gets delayed or lost”
  • Essential electronics, mobile phone fully charged iPad or tablet fully charged, power bank some airlines can be very strict on what type you have for safety turn thrm off if you are not using to save battery when you need to use it, and
  • Any travel documents. Paper for your, medications can be from your doctor, and inform the airline they will have the airline doctor in your city approve it, visa forms if you get it on arrival you get them from the government website or the embassy in your country beforehand” Luckily most things are online, but I always advise you to have a printed copy most South East Asia wants paper even if you have it online and some easter European countries, and any of that sort

If you have checked-in luggage try packing versatile clothing that can be mixed, matched, and layered.

Packing Techniques

My favorite packing techniques are rolling clothes to save space and prevent wrinkles, packing cubes, or the bundling method.

Depending on your suitcase it is  important to pack heavier items at the bottom of the suitcase and lighter items at the top

Maximizing Carry-On Luggage

My advice on how to choose the right carry-on luggage is to designate each pocket for something for easy access during the flight.

items that are essential for in-flight comfort, like a neck pillow, noise-canceling headphones, a lightweight blanket, and snacks.

Dealing with Liquids and Electronics

Make sure you don’t have any liquids like water bottles or coffee mugs, you can get them after you pass the final checkpoint and waiting for your flight you can buy something from the duty-free it won’t be an issue as long you have the receipt in case you get someone on the gate having a bad day

Best ways to pack electronics to protect them and ensure they are TSA-compliant. Have them out and ready also to take off your belt, and keys, just put them in your bag since you are traveling you won’t need them assign a pocket in your carry-on for it, I usually travel light so I don’t have to take things off st the TSA

Final Check and Travel Day Tips

Doing a final luggage check the day before traveling ensures nothing is forgotten and that bags are not overpacked. Call it out loud hear yourself and visually confirm recounting the items such as and not limited eg: mobile charger power bank, T-shirt, jeans, shoes underwear, towel … etc.

When I’m traveling to a cold place here are tips for a smooth travel day, wearing your heaviest shoes and bulkiest jacket to save space and reduce luggage weight.
